![]() (JAX True Blue TM) is proud to announce its first major long-‐term project benefitting Naval Station Mayport sailors and their families! This multi-‐phased project, recently approved by the Secretary of the Navy, Mr. Ray Mabus, is the Naval Station Mayport Lake Wonderwood Preserve Recreational Area. Working with the Mayport command and the Naval Station Mayport MWR (Morale Welfare and Recreation) leadership, Jax True Blue™ will gift monies for the development of a recreational track consisting of pathways and bridges around the mile in circumference of the lake. Additional improvements will include playgrounds, picnic areas, grill areas, fitness stations and other enhancements. "Lake Wonderwood Preserve called to me. Seeing sailors and their families relaxing and enjoying this beautiful recreational area for years to come means everything to me. They selflessly serve our great country and us. Completing this project will be just one small way to say thank you for all they do and have done." ~ Sharon Ellis, Board Chair and President, True Blue: Navy Families Benefactors, Inc. JAX True BlueTM will raise project donations through fundraising and special events, including a golf tournament at Sawgrass Country Club in October 2013. Additionally, they will solicit donations of equipment and build partnerships with Jacksonville based corporations for volunteer manpower to assist the project team headed by the Navy’s Director of Morale, Welfare and Recreation. CSX Corporation has already committed to provide personnel to clear brush from the trail site on Saturday, July 27.
