Our 3rd Make a Difference Day was phenomenal – over 200 volunteers, an incredible playground generously donated by AFFF/Taco Bell installed with tons of mulch put in, two old playgrounds dismantled, a floating dock installed, brush cleared, and sodding around a pavilion.
Skip and Jane deserve our heartfelt thank you’s for working with Thaddeus Foster and his wife(AFFF/Taco Bell) over the past several years to make this playground a reality. Skip and Jane have nurtured us an outstanding partner for us! Something more -- Taco Bell is having a fund raiser from Wed, Nov 4 – Wed, Nov 17 where customers who donate $1 or more get a coupon for a free taco. With the funds raised, AFFF/Taco Bell are purchasing a shelter/grill/benches and gifting it to True Blue for our Lake Wonderwood project. Thaddeus will also help us identify a concrete supplier. Remember – Nov 4 – 17, donate $1 or more at your local Taco Bell and get a free taco while supporting AFFF & True Blue.
Special thank you’s to Jane, Skip, Ed, Carrie, Sarah and Mike who toiled tirelessly! Ana also connected us with Elizabeth May who works at Prosser, Inc. She is a former Air Force pilot and awesome photographer. Elizabeth was with us at our golf tournament and then again Saturday. She took over 700 pictures. She is a gift!
Rear Admiral George Balance, U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command/U.S.4th Fleet, with his wife worked all morning with the volunteers and made the rounds of the volunteer teams to thank everyone. Captain Wes McCall, Mayport Commander also visited with and thanked the volunteers.
With the new playground, dock and clearings, we are now in a position to show progress and go after major corporate sponsors. And our Ed is gearing up to work with his TB team and get it done.
