The True Blue: Navy Families Benefactors, Inc.'s (JAX True BlueTM) 1st Annual Golf Tournament held Monday, October 28, 2013 at Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida received two large sponsorships from Brumos Motor Cars and Underwood Jewelers.
Brumos Motor Cars in Jacksonville provided four new luxury automobile leases, one for each par 3 hole, as prizes for a tournament player making a hole-‐in-‐one. One of theseholes also featured a Rolex watch valued at $14,500 from Underwood Jewelers in Ponte Vedra as an additional hole-‐in-‐one prize. Tournament personnel monitored each of these holes to witness competition for these great sponsorship prizes. The JAX True BlueTM Golf Tournament included live and silent auctions and raffles with amazing items by local organizations and businesses. One live auction package was an original oil painting by Jay Golden featuring the 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass, signed by many players in the 2013 THE PLAYERS Championship including the 2013 champion, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Matt Kuchar, David Toms, Jim Furyk, Steve Stricker, Rickie Fowler and many others, along with a Village Arts Framing Gallery $50 gift certificate. Silent auction items included signed sports memorabilia, golf lessons, foursomes with PGA Tour Players on the TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course, Bay Hill Country Club and other local courses and country clubs. Three packages were raffled at this event: A Dining Experience Package with gift certificates from four fine dining establishments: Ruth’s Chris, Palm Valley Fish Camp, Restaurant Medure, and Aqua Grill; A Golf Experience Package of a Mattiace Golf 9 hole playing lesson or 1 hour in-‐house video lesson; and a Watch THE PLAYERS Package, including four tickets for Saturday and Sunday play at the 2014 THE PLAYERS Championship. Proceeds from The True Blue: Navy Families Benefactors, Inc. Golf Tournament benefitted the Lake Wonderwood Project at Jacksonville’s Naval Station Mayport. This JAX True BlueTM project, approved by the Secretary of the Navy, Mr. Ray Mabus, will include a continuous pathway around the 22-‐acre lake and pavilions with children’s playgrounds, picnic and grill areas, and fitness stations. These improvements will bring countless hours of enjoyment and recreational opportunities for sailors and their families for years and generations to come.
